Gandharan influence on Mathura. Unindian features in both face
and drapery. This figure which recalls Graeco-Roman arl is inter-
preted as the Buddhist goddess Hariti or, more likely, as a por-
trayal of the Scythian queen Kambojika.

Beispiel des Gandhara-Einflusses in der mittelindischen
Schule von Mathura; Gewandung und Gesichtsausdruck
haben gegenüber einheimischen Werken fremde Züge. Die
lebensgroße, an griechisch-römische Kunst erinnernde Fi
gur wird als buddhistische Gottheit Hariti oder, wahrschein
licher, als eine Art Porträt der skythischen Königin Kam
bojika interpretiert.
