First Biennale of Venice (with artistic glass from Mu-
rano).
1900
Paris World Fair: Murano glass is considered conser-
vative. - Death of Antonio Salviati (born 1816), birth
of Flavio Poli.
1921
Paolo Venini (1895-1959) and Giacomo Cappellin
(born 1887) found the “Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Cappel-
lin-Venini & C.”, with Andrea Rioda as technical direc-
tor and Vittorio Zecchin (1878-1947) as artistic direc-
tor; copies of glassware in old paintings ("Veronese”
und “Holbein" models).
1923
Monza Biennale. - Vases by the painter Guido Cad-
orin. - Founding of the SALIR Company (with Guido
Baisamo Stella).
1924
14th International Art Exhibition, Venice: exhibits by
Giacomo Cappellin - Paolo Venini (execution of the
glassware by Nane Seguso, Diego Barovier, Nino Pa-
vanello and Attilio Moratto). - Ermanno Toso Starts
working with Fratelli Toso.
1925
Paris Fair: only a few firms from Murano exhibit. -
Venini and Cappellin split up to form "Vetri Soffiati
Venini & C ", Murano (artistic director: Napoleone
Martinuzzi) and “Maestri Vetrai Muranesi Cappel
lin & C." (artistic director: Zecchin). - Venini & C.
produce millefiori (''Murrine") and “latticino" glass.
1927
"Primavera"-glass developed by Ercole Barovier (died
1974) for Barovier & Toso. - Guido Baisamo Stella
and the native Czech Franz Pelzel work for the SALIR
Company (Studio Ars Labor Industrie Riunite) from
1927 to 1930, primarily engraved glass.
1928
Founding of the magazine “Domus" (publisher: Gio
Ponti).
1929
Founding of Vetreria d’Arte Ferro Lazzarini.
1930
Zecchin leaves Cappellin, and is succeeded by Carlo
Scarpa. - Monza Triennale: Animal figures by Guido
Baisamo Stella for Ferro Toso.
1931
Dissolution of the firm of Cappellin & C. - Dino Mar
tens works for Salviati. - Dissolution of IVAM (Indus
trie Vetri Artistici Murano) of Libero Vitali (with Flavio
Poli).
1932
Napoleone Martinuzzi leaves Venini and founds "Zec
chin Martinuzzi Vetri Artistici e Mosaici" with Fran
cesco Zecchin. In their employment: Alfredo Barbini.
- Founding of AVEM (Arte Vetraria Muranese) by An
tonio and Egidio Ferro and Emilio Nason (according
to Mariacher AVEM was founded by Ferro and Giulio
Rodi). - Vittorio Zecchin designs goblets for AVEM. -
Salviati opens a glassworks in Murano and displays
glasses by Dino Martens at the Biennale. - Founding
of the Seguso Vetri d'Arte (artistic director: Flavio
Poli).
1933

“Vetro sommerso” (Venini). - Tyra Lundgren (Swed-
ish ceramic artist) works for Venini tili 1940. - “Vetro

tistica Muranese Soc. An.). Designers included Er-
menegildo Ripa, Luigi Croce. Partner and first mas

1936-1938
"Vetro gemmato" from Barovier & Toso.
1937
“Vetro bullicante” from Seguso Vetri d’Arte.
1938
Designs by Zecchin for glasss with leaf designs on
the stem (execution Fratelli Toso). - Biennale: etched
glassware from Seguso. - Founding of the glass
works of Aureliano Toso.
1940
"Rugiada’-glass from Barovier & Toso. - Designs by
Carlo Scarpa for Venini, in particular “Murrine".
1945
Edwin Burger (native Austrian) works freelance in Mi
lan, producing mainly engraved and cut glass. - Ar-
chimede Seguso leaves "Seguso Vetri d’Arte" and
founds his own firm. - Guglielmo Vistosi founds "Vet
reria Vistosi" (designers: Gae Aulenti, Angelo Mangia-
rotti, Ettore Sotsass, Vico Magistretti, Eleonora Pe-
duzzi Riva).
1946
"Handkerchief" glass (“Fazzoletti”) of Venini & C. in
"latticino" or cased glass.
