7 „Perles Orientales“, Gebr. Redlhammer, Detail aus Abb. 256, S. 303
7 “Perles Orientales” (“oriental beads”), Redlhammer Brothers, detail from ill. 256, p. 303
is possible to divide the Gablonz Industry into separate groups according to the
materials that were used: metal, black or crystal glass; according to the production
processes: ‘Gürtler 1 and glass press-molding works produced articles themselves,
since the materials they used and the production procedures were extremely closely
related”(Tayenthal 1900, pp. 12, 13).
Despite being subjected to certain changes, the definition of the term, Gablonz
industry, remained constant in one aspect: in the rieh variety of the “production
assortment,” inseparably associated with the name Gablonz. This name reached
beyond regional borders and became a generic term - especially in the Austrian and
German centers of the Gablonz industry, which were given the name “Neugablonz”
(New Gablonz) when they were founded after the war.
