In certain instances it is also worth noting that the design forthe form, its ornamentation 
and the actual execution of an individual piece were not all necessarily made by one and 
the same hand. The fact that Sketches for the ceramic designs in the “KO-Buch” and the 
accompanying remarks may often stem from more than one hand warrants special 
emphasis. 
Due to the fact that some of the artists’ names listed in the “KO-Buch” have rarely been 
heard of before or are not known at all, ferreting out their Christian names or other 
personal information has been impossible - perhaps further work in the field of Wiener 
Werkstätte ceramics will bring to light useful facts (as to names like Frieberger, Gador, 
Hlibka, Iskofska, Lustig). As such artists, whotoagreat extent remain unknown uptothe 
present time, are often represented in the “KO-Buch” by only a few pieces, or in some 
cases by a single work, it may by assumed that the pieces were perhaps done on a 
commission basis.

When it was possible to locate the Christian name with absolute certainty, it has been 
added to the family name. Where there was some doubt, the Christian name is listed in
