The original designs of all five decorations by Josef Hoffmann still exist (illustrations
pp. 18, 22, 71, 83, 95, 125-127, 145, 177, 185).
Thus Hoffmann provided the main motif for each of the variants A, B, C, D, E and F. In
implementing these designs, the Lobmeyr Company often included shapes which Hoff
mann had probably not originally conceived for this purpose.
BRONZITE DECORATION VARIANT A (pp. 70-81)
This decoration consists of horizontal lines of black bronzite (or gold) and “transparent
ground" balls. The use of the same type of shapes for the drinking Service with variant
A, B and F bronzite decoration has already been referred to above. We also have the
painters' order numbers for variant A bronzite decoration (from 1911 for the beaker,
from 1912 for the other shapes). These are given below with the shape numbers (the lat-
ter in brackets):

BRONZITE DECORATION VARIANT B (pp. 82-93)
Like the variant A decoration, the variant B decoration consists only of lines, but with
horizontal and vertical lines intersecting at right angles, and without engraved “balls”.
Once again, the beaker was the prototype (produced from 1911), and was followed by
the other shapes with variant B decoration (from 1912).

BRONZITE DECORATION VARIANT F (pp. 124-143)
Once again, the beaker (1911) was the prototype for the variant F drinking Service,
which consisted of the same shapes as variants A and B. This was followed by the other
pieces of the Service.
