The principal motive in the 
Ornament throughout is the cotton plant, 
conventionally treated. It will be noticed 
that all the pieces are very low so as not 
to intercept the view across the table, 
and in order that when dressed with 
fruit and flowers the general effect may 
prove harmonious.
