THE WHITNEY SEWING-MACHINE
is the resnlt of the constant efforts and
practical experience of Mr. J. H. Whit
ney, for the past twenty years.
The old and original Weed machinc,
ivliich was so extensively sold in 1867-8,
in Continental Europe, by Mr. Whitney’s
Sons, (Messrs. H. O. & F. W. Whitney,)
and which received the highest premium-
at the Paris Exposition in 1867, was tho
joint invention of Mr. J. H. Whitney and
Mr. T. E. Weed.
Sincc 1868, Mr. Whitney has made fnr-
ther improvements, and has recently
patented and brought out a machine of
such unequalled simplidty, durability,
and perfect sewing qualities, that it has
entirely superseded the old Weed ma-
chine, and is a complete trinmph over all
other machines. It makes the Shuttle
Elastic Lock Stitcb, alike on both Sieles;
nsing a straight needle, and is so con-
etructed that coarse or fine nccdlcs oc-
cupy precisely the same distance from
the shuttlc without adjusting, and the
needle is so protected that the shuttle
can not strike it. The machine has a
positive four-motion feed in one piece,
without the use of springs.
