Chairs intended for carriage over short distances, and particularly chairs forwarded
by rail, are despatched fui ly assembled and bundled. The packing in bundles fully
protects the chairs from damage in the case of rail or sea transport on shorter routes.
Wood wool, paper and twine are used as packing material. In the case of overseas
consignments, the chairs are usually shipped dismantled. Each part of a chair is mark-
ed to facilitate assembly and is wrapped separately in paper. Screws, bolt and nuts
are packed in bags. The parts are packed in strong wooden cases lined with wood
wool and impregnated paper. The cases are protected by métal banding. Chairs
packed in this manner reach their destination, even in the remotest part of the world,
in perfect condition, without the least trace of damage.
At customers' special request, chairs can be packed in jute baies to facilitate
carriage from port to destination by pack-animals.
