The following Information accompanied the to
bacco speeimens from Benares :—
There are two kinds of tobacco for smokmg, yiz.
plain and spiced tobacco. There are two kinds of
plain tobacco also, sweet and strong. The plain
tobacco is made from the leaves being mixed with
molasses. Where a large proportion of molasses is
put, it is said to be sweet tobacco; where a small
proportion is given, it is called strong, or kurooa
tobacco. In khumeerah, or seasoned and spiced
tobacco, apple, plum, pine-apple, grapes, and jack
